PINK METAL RIDE
The Pink Metal Ride took place on Saturday June 7th. I do not know the exact count, but I believe there were close to 50 or so bikes. Now remember, these were all women. For a first time event, this was a great turnout. For me it was more than just a day to ride with other women, it was a day for me to spend time with my sister, Lynn, who also rides her own motorcycle. I could not have asked for a better day. Both my sister and I are married with families, and finding time to spend together is not always easy. I look up to my sister and care very much about her. She is a very strong woman who takes very good care of her family.
Let’s face it, how can you not be a strong woman to have the drive to get on your own bike. That does not mean you have to be so strong that you still cannot have love for your husband and children. Views are different these days. My brother-in-Law and husband both encouraged my sister and I to ride. It is a passion that we share with our husbands. It is a common bond that helps keep us close.
This Pink Metal Ride proved that more and more women are ready to take control of their own bikes. We can be strong and independent, and still be soft and caring enough to take care of our families. Riding is not just about being tough, it’s about passion. We, as women, have a passion for riding and the deep connection that is created by everyone who chooses to submerse themselves into this lifestyle.
When you become a bike owner, you take on more than just riding. You become a part of a very large family. Your one common love for motorcycles connects you to an entire world of people who love to ride. You have brothers and sisters all over the world, and could run across any of them at any given time. You may be on the road near your home when you pass another biker who gives you the familiar wave Hello, or you may be in another state when another biker pulls over to give you a helping hand. You could be at a rally and see a doctor and a janitor standing right next to each other. There are no classes in your family, there is only the love of motorcycles and what they offer.
As women, we want nothing more than to be a part of that family, The Harley Davidson Family!! Live to Ride and Ride to Live!!
