PINK METAL RIDE

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Saturday June 28, 2008

The Pink Metal Ride took place on Saturday June 7th. I do not know the exact count, but I believe there were close to 50 or so bikes. Now remember, these were all women. For a first time event, this was a great turnout. For me it was more than just a day to ride with other women, it was a day for me to spend time with my sister, Lynn, who also rides her own motorcycle. I could not have asked for a better day. Both my sister and I are married with families, and finding time to spend together is not always easy. I look up to my sister and care very much about her. She is a very strong woman who takes very good care of her family.

Let’s face it, how can you not be a strong woman to have the drive to get on your own bike. That does not mean you have to be so strong that you still cannot have love for your husband and children. Views are different these days. My brother-in-Law and husband both encouraged my sister and I to ride. It is a passion that we share with our husbands. It is a common bond that helps keep us close.

This Pink Metal Ride proved that more and more women are ready to take control of their own bikes. We can be strong and independent, and still be soft and caring enough to take care of our families. Riding is not just about being tough, it’s about passion. We, as women, have a passion for riding and the deep connection that is created by everyone who chooses to submerse themselves into this lifestyle.

When you become a bike owner, you take on more than just riding. You become a part of a very large family. Your one common love for motorcycles connects you to an entire world of people who love to ride. You have brothers and sisters all over the world, and could run across any of them at any given time. You may be on the road near your home when you pass another biker who gives you the familiar wave Hello, or you may be in another state when another biker pulls over to give you a helping hand. You could be at a rally and see a doctor and a janitor standing right next to each other. There are no classes in your family, there is only the love of motorcycles and what they offer.

As women, we want nothing more than to be a part of that family, The Harley Davidson Family!! Live to Ride and Ride to Live!!

Wisconsin Dells Ride

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Sunday May 25, 2008

Welcome to Memorial Day Weekend. We finally have some nice weather. My husband and I decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and got the bikes out. We decided to take a day trip around the Wisconsin Dells. We planned out a beautiful scenic route to and from the Dells, both different. We honeymooned in the Dells and really haven’t been back since. A lot has changed in 8 years.

We found a Mexican restaurant that we had eaten at when we were there 8 years ago and had lunch there. We walked across the street and played some miniature golf. We were only 90 miles away from home, but it felt like we were a lifetime away. It was a great day. Once we had some unwinding time we decided to get back on the bikes and head home.

Our trip home was a different route, but just as nice. I do have to say the bugs were a little worse on the way home. As we stopped at a stop sign I turned to my husband to tell him I kept getting pelted with bugs, but I figured he already had guessed that seeings how the left side of his face was indeed filled with small black bugs. It is during these times that I often wonder why I have not gotten a windshield for the bike yet, or should I say bug shield! I can handle the wind, but those bugs hurt when they slam into your face at 60mph.

All in all it was a great way to spend a Saturday. What more could a person ask for, sun, fun and motorcycles!!! Live to Ride, Ride to Live.

PINK METAL RIDE

For those of you that are interested in the Pink Metal Ride, this is the first year for this ride. So once you have done the ride please give feedback. Did you like the ride? What would you like to see different? What would you like to see stay the same? All comments will be welcome. This is intended to be used as positive feedback to create the greatest ride possible for women. This is an event that the dealership is hoping to repeat annually, and of course, they want it to be a great experience for all of those who participate. As Open Road states” Your experience is our passion.”

The dealership is really looking to cater to the needs of their customers. Now, so there is no misunderstanding, I am not saying this because I have to. I am not an employee of the dealership. I am, however, a chapter member in which is connected to the dealership. I choose to be a part of the Open Road Chapter because I like what they stand for, and I Love sharing my passion of motorcycles with my other Chapter members. We work hand in hand with the dealership trying to make everyones motorcycle experience a time to remember.

Long story short, Open Road is a dealership that cares about people, and The Open Road Chapter cares right along side of them. What a great feeling to be able to give back to our community while doing something we love. Live to Ride, Ride to Live!!

Update on KayLee

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Tuesday May 20, 2008

For those of you that have read previous posts on my cat KayLee, I have some sad news. It looks like my calico will not be giving us any kittens. She has suffered a miscarriage. I must have the only cat in the world that this could happen to. We were looking forward to her being a mother, and by the way she acted she seemed to be excited also. She was rather confused at first. Her body was still telling her that she was pregnant, but the kittens were gone. It took a little time, but she is almost back to her normal self.

We are thankful that she did not get sick because of the miscarriage. Under poor circumstances it could have caused an infection, but she has recovered quite well. She is 3yrs old and we had waited some time before letting her get pregnant. I cannot lie, I was very sad that she had lost the kittens. We had homes ready for them, one including ours. We are thinking about trying one more time. This would have been her first litter. I think we will give her some time to be herself for a while. A friend of mine has a male that she will be happy to arrange a play date for. Time will tell, but if things do not look like they are going well, then we will have to spay her. I do have every intention of spaying her after one litter. I would just really like to have one of her kittens.

Happy 1st Anniversary femalebiker.net

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Wednesday April 2, 2008

Happy 1st anniversary to me!! I can’t believe it has been 1 year since I started this website. I have had a great time sharing my experiences with you. I look forward to sharing much more with you. Now that the riding season has arrived again, there will be much more to share. I seen at least 8 motorcycles out today.

We have our monthly H.O.G. meeting Saturday. Wouldn’t it be great if we could take the bikes. I am sure the main topic will be the Ride For Pride. That ride is right around the corner. I put in for a 1/2 day of vacation so I could help with the registration the Friday before.

Now that I have been sharing some things with you for a year, I would like to share some things I plan improve. I am hoping to give the site a face lift. I hope to brighten it up in the near future. I am also looking into adding a photo gallery. I even hope I can get other female bikers to share their stories and send photos. Well, for those of you that have taken the time to visit, Thank you!! Thank you for allowing me to share one of my great passions with you. It is my understanding that I have over 43,000 visitors in the last year. So Thank you for taking the time to check it out!!!

Body World

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Tuesday April 1, 2008

We made it to Body World. It was a very educational experience. I had been worried that it may be gross with real bodies, but with the process they go through to preserve the bodies, it’s hard to believe that they were living people at one time. It took us 2 solid hours to go through the exhibit. We learned many interesting facts. We saw many organs in different stages of health and sickness. We were able to see how the body is wired, aka: The Nervous System. We were able to see a baby from the first week of development through the eighth month. They had every stage of the body from skin, muscle, arteries, and bone. All the people in the exhibit had donated their bodies for this scientific experience.

I would highly recommend seeing it if you get a chance. All of the bodies are anatomically correct. Nothing is done in poor taste. Everything has a very educational based background. Once you get to the exhibit, you may rent a device that you hold up to your ear. Each display is assigned a number, and once you key in the number the narrator will go into detail about the item or items. As I sit here typing, I am thinking about how many muscles I am using to stroke the keys. You will look at your body in a whole new light.

Body World is on display at the Milwaukee Public Museum through June 1st. If you live in the area check it out. I recommend getting advance tickets. They sell out fast!! This is a traveling exhibit so you may want to look into when it may be in your area. Here is a fact for you: Every morning when you wake up and your eyes see light for the first time, you actually burn a layer of your retina off and use a new layer underneath to see. Fascinating, isn’t it? Imagine how much more you could learn by going to Body World and seeing it for yourself!!

Body World

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Sunday March 30, 2008

Yesterday my family and I took a trip to Milwaukee Public Museum to check out Body World, a new exhibit that involves real human bodies. The idea behind the concept is to see how the human body is structured and how it works underneath the exterior of the skin. They have many organs in different stages of health and sickness.

Unfortunately we were unable to get into the exhibit. We went down at 11am, but they were sold out until 4pm that day. We had been asked to be godparents to our niece, and her baptismwas at 4pm that afternoon. We decided to check out the Imax presentation of The Human Body and also bought tickets for Sunday to see the Body World Exhibit.

When we got home we had a little time before the baptism. So what did I do with my time? Well the sun was shining and I figured that it was high time that I gave Spring a little kick in the ass! I started the bike and took her down the road for a short trip. It is time to clean out that carb. I officially have 1.7 miles on the bike for the season. Spring is taking it’s sweet time in arriving, so I decided that I would give it a little kick start.

Well, we are on our way to Body World now. I will give you my opinion of our experience when we come back. I have heard much positive feedback from those that have already checked it out. I highly suggest checking it out if it comes to your area. It is at the Milwaukee Public Museum until June 1st.

SPRING IS HERE!!!

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Thursday March 20, 2008

Welcome to the first day of Spring!! Today is my late day so I took care of all my housework this morning. Now I am taking a few minutes to talk, and then I will look into how to properly care for a pregnant cat. I was going to start the bike up and get that ready, but it will have to wait for the weekend. We did move them from the back of the garage to the front. That is definitely one step closer to the road. Our social schedule will become very busy once the bikes are ready for the road.

The first major event is The Ride for Pride we will be doing on April 26th. I am really hoping for a warm day, and if not warm, at least dry!! I do believe there was rain last year. Let’s all pray for good weather this year. We are hoping to have a record amount of bikes. The more bikes we have the more money we can raise for a great cause, the MDA.

Easter is early this year, this Sunday. I will have a chance to see my brother who lives in Minnesota. Him, his wife, Kim, and the kids are coming home for a visit. I have not seen him in quite a while. Because we decided to stay home this past Christmas, we did not see a lot of family we normally see over the holidays.

Rumors have it we may have some snow on the way. Lets hope that is not true, we really need it to warm up. The high today is only 40, so we are a little ways away from comfortable riding conditions. Sooner than later though it will be time to ride, so for those of you that are waiting to get on the road, I wish you great and safe riding!!

3,2,1-Yes 1 day until Spring

Bloged in Female Biker by Angel Wednesday March 19, 2008

There is only 1 day left until Spring is officially here!! I cannot believe that winter will finally be over!! Sorry about missing the last few days, the computer has been tied up. I have inventory at work tomorrow, so my hours are a little different. I will not have to go in until 3pm instead of 7am.

I plan on unveiling my bike from it’s winter storage area and letting the sun shine on the chrome while I polish it. I even plan on starting it up and cleaning out all the carbonation from winter. I do not have a fuel injected bike yet. I like my bike to have a carburetor but my next one will probably be fuel injected. I cannot take it on the road until we have had one good rain to wash all the salt off.

I also plan on doing some research on how to care for my pregnant cat KayLee. Her boyfriend left on Monday and has not been back. She still goes outside in hopes that he will appear. I have tried to explain to her that it’s just me and her now. Mommy will help her through the rest of her journey towards Motherhood. I have three of her kittens promised already.

If she turns out not to be pregnant, which I hardly doubt that will be the case, I will need to find some kittens fast. Look for pictures soon of KayLee and her boyfriend. I plan on documenting her entire pregnancy, birth, and growing of the kittens. I am very excited to be experiencing this with her. Talk to you tomorrow, the first day of Spring!
